Ultraviolet technology, similar to that installed in the original aquatic center, is used to treat the water. Water and air in the pool is heated and cooled with geothermal technology placed in the adjacent Lake Andrea. The 42,000 square foot expansion also included related amenities, as well as seating for approximately 600 spectators. The Village broke ground for the pool on Jand completed it almost a year later, on June 10, 2010. An Olympic-sized swimming pool would be built, with $8 million in funding from Uline, which was in the process of moving from Waukegan, Illinois to Pleasant Prairie. In late 2008, a second major expansion was announced. Separately, a 79,000 square foot ice arena, with two NHL-sized ice rinks and additional amenities, was also constructed. In total, the facility's area increased by 42,000 square feet. A new, larger fitness center, more changing rooms, an expanded child-care area, racquetball courts, a multi-purpose studio, and party rooms were all added. On January 12, 2004, construction began for an addition to the RecPlex. Pleasant Prairie Operation Plans for COVID-19 Update: RecPlex Posted on With coronavirus (COVID19) outbreak updates and the impacts changing daily, the Village of Pleasant Prairie continues to work to lessen the effect COVID-19 has on the community through social distancing and limiting public gathering. The facility included a 17,000 square foot leisure pool, a 60,000 square foot field house, an 8,000 square foot fitness center, a 1/6-mile suspended track, changing rooms, a child-care area and a snack bar. Construction began with a groundbreaking ceremony on October 12, 1999, and the RecPlex opened almost a year later, on October 1, 2000. RecPlex is too significant an asset to the Village, for the Village not to support its continued success. WisPark donated $4 million for its construction, after previously providing $1.6 million to construct Prairie Springs Park. "The Largest Municipal Recreational Facility in America", it consists of 302,000 square feet in Prairie Springs Park on the shores of Lake Andrea. Would love one of these in our home town. The Pleasant Prairie RecPlex is a recreational facility in Kenosha County, Wisconsin. Great job by the local businesses, donors and Pleasant Prairie to bring this complex to completion. We are truly committed to you The RecPlex has 7. We continually improve our programs and services. We are here to provide support, guidance and educational opportunities. There is a small indoor water park for members that would have been nice to have my non-swimming child visit. Located on the shores of Lake Andrea in Prairie Springs Park, Pleasant Prairie, our beautiful facility has an entire staff committed to enhancing your quality of life. Stands are a little small, but raised level keeping them separate from the swimmers - smart. The pool is where we spent most of our time, this is truly one of if not the best pool in the state as it can be split to a smaller pool and a cool down pool or kept as an olympic - 50m pool. There are also baseball/softball fields here. Parking near the building is reserved for RecPlex members, understood, but seemed excessive given the number of non-members that were visiting for hockey and swim events. They could mark the individual areas better, specifically for the swimming there are no signs directing you where to go from the street, huge signs on the building are pointless when you can't see them from public parking areas or the road. Hockey, Basketball, Olympic pool and more in one facility. I honestly don't recommend this for younger children. It was also cool you could paddle board and kayak, but those activities were not allowed on the entire lake just certain areas. It was nice to have lifeguards on duty and they had a fun floating obstacle course for older kids around 11-14. I couldn't even imagine doing that with two younger kids and one parent!! A bit of an ordeal for a one parent and child outing. Also the bathrooms are located outside of the fenced off beach area, so if you have a child who needs to use the restroom, you have to leave the area to go to the front of the pavilion, and then get buzzed back into the fenced in beach area. The beach area looked nice from afar, but was not very well kept, which is surprising since we paid $14 to get into the beach area. The lake is beautiful and than there is this huge plant just there. However, I could not get over the large ominous chemical plant lurking over the lake on horizon. It stays a bit chilly as it is a Spring fed lake. We were staying at a hotel nearby and had some extra time so we headed over to the beach.
